Two Metamec Wall Clocks Repaired

The customer had these two broken 1950/60’s Metamec Kitchen Wall Clocks. The brief was to replace the movements while ensuring the original HANDS were re-used. The customer did not want replacement hands fitting as they are a massive part of these clocks character and style.

The photos below show the two broken clocks as received. The old movements are unrepairable so the task started with the careful removal of the broken mechanisms. To do this each clocks is “split” to remove the front glass and out bezel leaving just the dial and dial pan. After this – the trickiest part – removing the original hands WITHOUT damaging them – remember – we MUST keep those for fitting to the new movement

The photos below are the two Metamec wall clocks AFTER the new movements have been fitted. As you can see – the original hands have been refitted to the new movements after a little “fettling” to get them to securely fit.
